Fetal sexing and pregnancy monitoring
At Sharjah Equine Hospital we can determine if your mare is carrying a colt or a filly using ultrasound. If you would like to use this service there are two windows of opportunity to have this done, either between 58 and 70 days of pregnancy or between 4 and 7 months.
In addition, our experienced reproduction vets can also monitor the placenta in later pregnancy to check for placentitis. Some clients opt to check their mares on a monthly basis from 6 months of gestation, as early diagnosis of this condition can lead to effective treatment plans that can prevent abortion and loss of the foal.
